10 Companies That Totally Nailed the Company Culture Video
10 Companies That Totally Nailed the Company Culture Video While chipping away at this task, I understood all organizations take extraordinary (altogether different) ways to deal with their organization culture video. Some like to have the recordings feel progressively like work advancements, where they are urging individuals to apply and straight up disclosing to them why by including things like protection and dental data or excursion strategy. Others utilize the organization culture video as an approach to communicate what the organization does all in all; referencing highlights and advantages for clients. Many use voice-overs and much more use tributes from representatives and CEOs. In any case, what makes a kick@$$ organization culture video? Is there some mystery equation to composing, delivering, and advancing your organization culture video? The ideal organization culture video will fluctuate, contingent upon numerous things. Things like the business, organization esteems, industry esteems, and financial plan. Emptying boatloads of money into an organization culture video might be an extraordinary thought for one organization, and for other people, shooting a snappy, 30 second video on an iPhone is completely adequate. So since there is no mysterious method to make the ideal organization culture video (and since we're really genuine about recordings here at Spark Hire), I feel that these 10 organization culture recordings are extraordinary, for every specific organization, for their own reasons. I will assess every video, remembering 3 significant inquiries: What does the video resemble? What is said? For what reason accomplishes it work? These recordings are done in an unexpected way, and it's essential to know why. Since no organization culture is equivalent to the following. One thing's without a doubt; these organizations know the significance of putting your organization culture in plain view. At Atlassian, even the verbiage being utilized to clarify their fundamental beliefs focuses on a specific crowd. To a few, the swearing is engaging, as it grandstands a disclose to it how it is disposition. Some may avoid this thought, and it is even referenced in the video that the individuals who originate from customary, corporate style working situations are really stunned by such an alternate culture. At long last, this video shows how working at Atlassian is easygoing and agreeable for all representatives, regardless of their experience. These 5 fundamental beliefs help their colleagues create inventive items while feeling as though they are a piece of a family, instead of an immense partnership. With a no entryway strategy, boundless excursion, free food (and lager), games, and adaptable work hours, stir life at this beginning up appears to be truly wonderful. The representatives at Hubspot are viewed as specialists and work for a reason, as opposed to a check. Try not to stress, they get paid as well. They really have a 128 page slideshow of what the organization culture resembles at HubSpot straightforwardly on their site. Culture is to #recruiting as item is to #marketing @HubSpot Snap To Tweet We love lager. How Fear Spreads Quickly from Leaders to Employees
How Fear Spreads Quickly from Leaders to Employees How Fear Spreads Quickly from Leaders to Employees In my blog entries, I am continually keeping in touch with the activity searcher or to the individual searching for help with their resume. In todays post, I need to address the entrepreneur or pioneer and how they influence the air inside the workplace. Is it true that you are a solid or dread driven pioneer? On the off chance that you simply had a gut twinge about the dread driven part, at that point this article is for you. Heres the unforgiving truth: No issue the amount you plan, regardless of what number of rules you set up, regardless of how much hazard you maintain a strategic distance from, youll never control all the conditions that impact your business. Never. Furthermore, on the off chance that you cannot figure out how to coincide calmly with that reality, says Dan Prosser, youll never satisfy your maximum capacity as a pioneer. An excessive number of pioneers live in dread of the obscure and of wild occasions in their business, says Prosser, writer of THIRTEENERS: Why Only 13 Percent of Companies Successfully Execute Their Strategy-and How Yours Can Be One of Them. The outcomes can be obliterating. Theres no quicker method to transform great representatives into negative and ineffective ones than to worry them through your endeavors to control the chance of disappointment. Dread spreads rapidly from pioneers to workers, Prosser notes. It smothers people and gatherings, forestalls beneficial hazard taking, and transforms connected with trailblazers into separated clock-punchers. At last, the hurtful reactions of dread keeps your organization from successfully executing its methodology. Here are five practices that demonstrate you are a dread driven pioneer: 1. You esteem not flopping most importantly else. As Prosser writes in THIRTEENERS, 87 percent of all organizations with a vital arrangement will neglect to execute it. That is on the grounds that those organizations are seeking after the least complex yet most harming technique: the procedure to keep away from disappointment. A great many people are put resources into not coming up short, and theyve encouraged every one of their workers to esteem that execution model over taking the sort of dangers that can possibly pay off, says Prosser. Everyones doing it, and its costing your organization on an amazing scale. 2. You stick to old methodologies essentially in light of the fact that theyre familiar. Many organizations that bomb frequently give off an impression of being working under full sail. Prosser says, Yes, theres loads of activity occurring in these associations, however its typically an inappropriate sort of activity. Its what earned accomplishment in years passed by. Pioneers at these associations feel that in the event that a procedure has worked previously, at that point its got the chance to work once more and that business as usual must be better. They make a special effort to persuade themselves that the old technique is working-particularly when it isnt. The distinction between a trench and a grave is just around five and a half feet, Prosser brings up. Rather than uncovering themselves from underneath the trench theyre in, pioneers who stick to old techniques end up simply delving themselves in more profound when change happens in the commercial center. Out of nowhere, they understand the opposition has made up for lost time or clients are beginning to vanish. 3. You accept you (and only you) ought to have all the answers. Fearful pioneers regularly work like solitary wolves. They need to do everything themselves to feel certain it will be done effectively, and they oppose considering (significantly less depending on) the assessments and suggestions of others. This resembles stepping through an examination from memory when you have the choice to utilize the reading material, yet the entire library, Prosser remarks. Youll never know how skilled your representatives are on the off chance that you think you must have all the appropriate responses. Why not band together with your kin to produce radical and progressive advancements for the future-a future that doesn't speak to your apprehensions of rehashing the past? Relinquish how you think it must be and confide all the while, permitting others to contribute thoughts and get associated with your vision. 4. Your automatic response to tumult is to accomplish something-anything. Whether youve simply learned of an unforeseen drop in quarterly profit, gotten terrible news from a customer, or had a promising arrangement fail to work out, youve no uncertainty been confronted with bedlam, issue, or disarray. Did you keep quiet and altogether survey the circumstance, or did you alarm, hurry to judgment, and act without deduction? When youre confronted with unforeseen tumult or tension (particularly uneasiness that suggests youre not equivalent to the current test), its simple to think, I have to accomplish something at this moment, PRosser recognizes. Thus you lay off representatives, change to another system, pull an item off the market, or cause some other move that improves you to feel in the short run that you did, well, something. However, automatic responses made out of dread can have a dependable negative effect on your association. 5. You wind up continually tending to manifestations as opposed to scanning for root causes. When problematic issues spring up in the work environment, the primary thing we need to do is-normally snuff them out as quick as could reasonably be expected. Regularly, that is on the grounds that we dread the results of the disturbance, yet additionally the harm that may happen to our own notorieties. Be that as it may, rewarding just the manifestations once in a while works, Prosser says. More often than not, it just incidentally covers the genuine issue, which keeps on harming working environment execution. For whatever length of time that youre tending to just the indications and permitting center issues to stay, comparable issues will simply show up elsewhere, and you will experience a similar exercise of getting individuals in and talking through the issue (really the manifestations) over and over and once more.

As Henry Miller Commands, Part 10 Think Only Of The Book You Are Writing
AS HENRY MILLER COMMANDS, PART 10: THINK ONLY OF THE BOOK YOU ARE WRITING Welcome to the penultimate chapter of this somewhat lengthy sequence of posts impressed by Henry Millerâs Eleven Commandments of Writing. As all the time, should you havenât been following alongside from the start, or want another look at the complete record of commandments, you'll be able to click back to the primary post here. This week, it feels as if Mr. Miller is repeating himself with: 10. Forget the books you wish to write. Think only of the book youarewriting. . . . which definitely feels of a kind with the primary two commandments: âWork on one thing at a time until finished,â and âStart no extra new books, add no more new materials to Black Spring.â But in fact I canât simply depart it at that so letâs see if we can dig into this for some separate which means. In âCement Not Fertilizers,â Kat Sommers wrote: I assume my favorite is âForget the books you need to write. Think only of the book you are writingâ. Thereâs such a disjunction between the 2â"what you need to write and what youâre in a position to write. Sometimes the concern of the latter means you write nothing at all. We have looked on the idea of fearâ"being afraid to get began, afraid of committing to 1 project, and so on, however here I assume Miller goes back to that warning towards distraction. It could possibly be that what youâre working on now is a fun, industrial, YA fantasy novel. Itâs an excellent thought, you like your characters, and th e define no less than feels goodâ"feels like a narrative. But it isnât the Great American Novel. First of all, who says that a YA fantasy canât be the Great American Novel? In truth, one of the main contenders for that crown, To Kill a Mockingbird, is a YA novel, although not fantasy. And how essential to the tradition, normally, is Aliceâs Adventures in Wonderland? Letâs just agree that as an author you don't have any say whatsoever in your guideâs legacy. Classic status isnât written into the textual contentâ"it comes later and at all times from shocking directions. So then what's that Great American Novel thatâs pushing you away from the Work in Progress? I actually have this idea thatâs been percolating in my head for years nowâ"a historical novelâ"that Iâve made some stabs at researching, but all the time find yourself setting aside for other issues. Itâs an concept, still, and a pocket book stuffed with historical notes and scattered character sketches and plot points, however I havenât felt as though Iâm prepared to start out writing it because Iâm not sure Iâve done sufficient analysisâ"so that idea sits whereas I wander through other stuff. Even before I noticed these commandmentâs of Henry Millerâs, Iâd set that concept asideâ"the e-book I want to writeâ"in favor of the book I am writing. And hereâs the big disconnect . . . Phil the author is ready till heâs âreadyâ to start out that historic novel, though in some ways in which concept typically eclipses my enthusiasm for the work in progressâ"the guide I do feel âreadyâ for. (And Iâve put âpreparedâ in quotes as a result of Iâm undecided I actually have a transparent definition for what that means on this context.) Iâm following Henry Millerâs recommendation. But as an editor, as a consultant who works with authors sometimes with their complete careers in thoughts, my advice would really beâ"and has really very lately beenâ"simply t he other. Write the guide you care probably the most aboutâ"the story that speaks to you, that receivedât allow you to sleep at night, that receivedât go away. Even if it's a big, scary historic epic. Even if it doesnât match as much as anything on the current best sellers record (which, by the way, will look completely different by the time youâve completed writing either the for-profit YA dystopian SF thing or the philosophically rich, borderline preachy historical). I do, for what itâs worth, agree in spirit that when youâve dedicated your self to a project, you should do your finest to see it through. But on the same time Iâve suggested, and can continue to advise, that you stroll away from a narrative you find wanting. If youâre simply torturing yourself, making an attempt to slog via some failed attempt, sooner or later the rational factor to do is acknowledge it as a failed try, learn from your mistakes, and be a greater author for the subsequent thought. For me, the darkish fantasy will still come first, then the historical, however I think I want to move that up, analysis be damned. After all, another piece of recommendation that I actually gave to an writer last week is to simply dive in and begin writing. The characters and the unfolding story will tell you where the holes in your analysis are. Iâll take that recommendation to heart with my huge, scary historical. At first, I thought that this week Iâd break from Henry Miller enough to simply not embrace this in a reworked model for my very own âcommandments,â however then reading back I think this bears repeating, and must be in every writerâs mind: 10. Write the guide you care probably the most aboutâ"the story that speaks to you, that wonât let you sleep at evening, that wonât go away. â"Philip Athans About Philip Athans That advise would not work for me. After a draft, I have to put it away for a while and think of one thing else so I can come back later and think about it more objectively. This can take a number of days or a few weeks. When I do this, I begin a draft on a special work. I tried doing one factor at a time, but I was ending up not finishing something and getting slowed down. I understand that some individuals get distracted and overwhelmed making an attempt to do too much at once, but engaged on a number of projects is what I must do. Everyone is totally different; there isn't a perfect writing method for everybody. Youâre absolutely proper that there isn't a one way to strategy artistic writing, and no greatest method, just what works for you. I additionally prefer to let a rough draft sit for a timeâ"and not a set time, simply until I really feel like I wish to get again at itâ"earlier than I start in on a revision. And thereâs certainly no cause to stop writing all collective ly during that downtime.

As a toddler, I wracked my brain attempting to figure out the answer to the above brainteaser. As an adult, itâs simple to see that the physician was the boyâs mom. Itâs additionally simple to see simply how systematic the stereotypes are for women and men as they attempt to decide on a profession. Unfortunately, not a lot has changed since I was a kid. Or perhaps it has⦠That Was Then⦠According to a current New York Times report, this decade, nearly one-third of job-looking for males will fill positions in industries the place 70% of the workforce has been feminine. (Click right here to tweet this thought.) This is happening in part as a result of many males in blue-collar jobs discovered themselves on the unemployment line when the recession began in 2008. As a outcome, gender lines are starting to blur â" not solely due to the latest economic recession, but additionally as a result of as we evolve as a more gender-neutral society, persons are being hired based mostly upon the abilities they carry to the desk, not as a result of they fit the stereotypical mould of the traditional job. The term âpink-collar jobâ was coined through the Second World War when girls occupied jobs similar to secretaries and typists. But now, it refers to any class of job traditionally stuffed by women, like nurse, tra iner, receptionist, paralegal, social employee and private aide. So who cares? You do⦠when youâre a man. This Is Now⦠The subject of pink-collar jobs has been opened up to men as job growth continues in these roles that had been historically dominated by girls: Nurse As our Baby Boomers proceed to age, the demand for medical care is on the rise, and the demand for professionals in the medical area is rising in proportion. Additionally, with the passing of the Affordable Care Act, the Association of American Medical Colleges estimates there will be a scarcity of 63,000 docs by 2015. With demand outpacing the expansion of healthcare professionals, the necessity for nurses, doctor assistants and other medical paraprofessionals has dramatically elevated. Paralegal This job has traditionally been feminine-dominated, but in an economic system the place many legal professionals have misplaced their jobs, newer attorneys are turning to paralegal jobs or skipping legislation school altogether. The median salary of an legal professional is simply over $100,000, whereas the median wage of a paralegal is inching closer to $50,000. With regulation faculty prices topping $200,000 and the job outlook for attorneys shrinking, getting began as a paralegal is looking like the extra stable choice. Teacher Despite the uncertainty academics have faced over the past few years, there are signs that there's growth for elementary school teachers. A massive variety of educators are expected to retire through this decade, and the demand for teachers in the areas of math and science is powerful. California boasts the best average instructor wage by state, whereas South Dakota has the lowest. While historically a feminine-dominated job, male function fashions are wanted in the college techniques, and job growth is projected at 4% above the norm. Salaries high out at round $76,000 a year, but median salaries are a none-too-shabby $51,000. Bookkeeper/Accounting Clerk According to the Institute for Womenâs Policy Research, this is likely one of the 10 feminine-dominated occupations that account for 30% of all female staff. Working as a bookkeeper or accounting clerk isnât the most glamorous of professions, however with its low barrier to entry, it can be a fantastic place to start within the accounting field. Once once more, California tops the list, with a number of the highest-paid wages in San Francisco and San Jose, at $forty seven,860 and $forty five,960 respectively. Receptionist Even with coworking offices on the rise, corporations still need somebody to route phone calls and greet purchasers. Starting salaries range greatly relying upon the size of the town youâre in and the scale of the corporate, however with titles like âDirector of First Impressions,â this place continues to be one whichâs important to many organizations. The job outlook for receptionists is 10% greater than the common for different positions. Final Note A variety of the jobs which are dominated by women pay higher wages to men. However, the reverse additionally appears to be true for ladies in historically male-dominated jobs. It appears that both sexes fare better once theyâre within the minority, so either reverse gender discrimination is in full impact or the gender lines truly are blurring. An objective statement for resume includes accomplishments, knowledge, skills, and knowledge-based abilities so it is better to use this format in order to add some gloss to the resume.Since the objective statement for resume is meant to be specific, the reader has to go through all these lines in order to understand what they mean. A simple statement such as 'above average'excellent' might sound okay but it would certainly not inspire the reader as they are too general in nature. It is best to follow this format and be more specific so that the resume stands out among the rest. Most of the employers would like to hire people who can come up with their own unique skills, knowledge, and abilities. These are the people who can bring something new to the table. In other words, these are the people who are so unique that they make the job impossible for other people to do.The objective statements for resume include these unique personalities in order to entice potential employers into hiring the candidate. This is why it is important to make sure that the resume comes across as different from the rest. The best way to make it so is to use this particular format that is easy to read and give a proper description of the qualities that are conveyed. While the resume is written in such a way that it emphasizes on the individual's unique characteristics, the objective statement for resume tells the employer about the capabilities of the candidate. It is meant to give the reader an idea about the candidate's skills and abilities. This means that the key point of an objective statement for resume is to make the employer see the candidate's capabilities so that they can decide whether they want to hire him or not.

Santa Brings Valuable Guidelines For HR
Santa Clause Brings Valuable Guidelines For HR December can be a stunning month for business. As Christmas is here, its a month to appreciate and work at the same time. It may be the most mind boggling season; every office is concentrating on the coming year; financial plans are preparing, the business office is underlining more on the end of arrangements as opposed to concentrating on new chances. In any case, one division that surely wont dial down is HR. The Human Resource is about workers and the government assistance of the association. The division has a few difficulties that harvest up each year and request your consideration. It is fundamental to oversee issues quickly and in accordance with the law, particularly in the happy mode. In this blog, I need to propose some basic suggestions that the Human Resources division can acquaint with increment its efficiency and inspire representatives until the year's end. Robotization in Recruitment: You may believe were frantic for considering the Christmas surge as of now. In any case, in the realm of enlistment, you have to design. With the mechanization in the HR office, you can line up with the business procedure on a dashboard. It causes you in keeping all the records of the business procedure and progressing ventures. Mechanization additionally permits selection representatives to smooth out their enrollment procedure. These days, ATS has made it simple to associate with the applicants. Selecting apparatuses, for example, continue parser, which is modified to incorporate with an ATS, encourages enrollment specialists to evacuate manual screening of up-and-comers in any event, when spotters are making the most of their Christmas eve. It lessens the outstanding task at hand of the enrollment specialist with a single tick process as it were. Accordingly, enrollment specialists can concentrate more on different business exercises, tasks, which prom pts high profitability and effectiveness after they continue their work. Permit Work from Home to Avoid Absenteeism: Working with fake innovation is a reality. Ten years prior, telecommute was not by any means an idea. Be that as it may, presently, with the assistance of AI, it has become an adequate standard. Each association means to get most extreme efficiency from workers. Offering such sorts of advantages like adaptable hours and work from home at whatever point required is an aid. Through these offices, they can without much of a stretch be reached through video conferencing, skype, or google talk. Be that as it may, remote working is only an advantage, which can't be applied to everyday expert life. Keep Employees Happy at Workplace: Employees' prosperity and bliss are unequivocal with regards to accomplishing an elevated level of efficiency in an organization. Having some good times filled meeting to generate new ideas in the working hours can cause representatives to feel loose. This is an amazing method to convince them to work more diligently and more brilliant. Giving merited gratefulness and acknowledgment toward the finish of Christmas week will likewise help in improving workers' assurance and inspire them to build their profitability in this bubbly mind-set. Here you can offer thankfulness as impetuses which turns into an inspiration for the consummation of the assignment on schedule. Such motivating forces can be structured dependent on the objectives set and performed. An Error-Free Payroll Processing: December is one of those months in the year, which is the busiest. This month, the procedure of physically entering information into spreadsheets can bring about a ton of mistakes. Selecting a safe online business finance programming can ensure the precision in your finance through the disentanglement and robotization of the procedure. Execution Review: With Christmas month, its presentation audit season also. Estimating the exhibition of workers is simple with the assistance of innovation. The utilization of programming programs encourages HR Managers to quantify the presentation of representatives by utilizing different measurements. This guarantees whether the workers are satisfying the set guidelines or not. Execution surveys can assist workers with understanding what they are doing and how they can improve. It is critical to value your representatives during a wild and unpleasant period. Get inventive, and youll be stunned by how well you can inspire your staff and can keep each representative concentrated on the objective for a Very Happy Christmas in fact. 5 Reasons its YOUR Fault Employees Waste Time
5 Reasons its YOUR Fault Employees Waste Time To paraphrase the comedian Louis CK, there are two types of people in this world: people who say they waste time at work and dirty liars. According to Salary.com, 9 in 10 employees admit to goofing off during work hours, with over a quarter confessing they do so for more than two hours each day. Cue horror from bosses up and down the country, as they visualise company dollars being pocketed by unscrupulous employees spending their workdays browsing Facebook or bidding for items on eBay. Bad luck bosses; the news gets worse. If all your employees are consistently slacking off, itâs almost certainly your own fault. Hereâs why: 1. You prioritise presenteeism over productivity Presenteeism â" where employees are valued solely by how much time they physically spend in the office â" is a widespread phenomenon amongst companies. Consequently, the average UK employee now works an extra seven and a half hours of unpaid overtime every week. Take a peek at the nationâs productivity, however, and it becomes clear that all this extra work is worse than useless: the UKâs productivity gap with the rest of the G7 (a group of rich democracies) is currently the worse itâs been since records began. It has long been known to scientists, and long ignored by employers, that neither the human brain nor the human body is capable of sustaining consistent, high-quality output for eight to ten hours every day. Managers who promote presenteeism, therefore, incentivise employees to spend hours twiddling their thumbs. In an extra twist, employees who work shorter hours produce more than their desk-squatting peers. 2. You treat all workdays the same In the Salary.com survey, employees were asked when during the week they wasted the most time. 44% of respondents picked the same time slot. Can you guess what it was? If you knew the answer was âFriday afternoonâ but donât give your employees an early home-time on that day, you should look into the Pareto Principle (also called the 80-20 rule). Synopsis: focus on the most valuable aspects of a business for the greatest payoffs. Good bosses know the importance of boosting staff morale; itâs a key factor in an employeeâs overall productivity. Starting the weekend early is a great way to do this at little to no cost to your business (because employees arenât working well then anyway). 3. You havenât established a break culture When asked why they waste time at work, over half of the surveyed workers cited the need to take occasional breaks to stay productive. If you think that sounds reasonable, itâs because it is. Taking frequent short breaks is the only way we can maintain our focus, ability and interest in a task. Establishing a break culture requires more than not firing people for making a cup of coffee, however. A designated, comfortable break room, provided drinks and snacks, and managers who lead by example are all important. Your employees will take breaks regardless. Why not encourage them to take the sort of breaks that will fully reinvigorate and energize them, such as taking a walk outside or having a power nap? 4. Your meetings are too long Time wasting in the workplace isnât just employees sending each other emojis on WhatsApp. For almost a quarter of workers, the biggest time sucker is unnecessary meetings. For a further 12%, itâs returning excessive amounts of email. (In comparison, just 4% cited social media as their biggest time-waster.) Tackling these issues requires a change to company culture. Senior hires need to lead the charge, only calling meetings when they have a clear agenda, and being strict about them running over the allotted time. Another good policy would be to encourage employees to only respond to emails within set time slots every day. After all, if a request is important enough that it cannot wait half a day for a response, the parties should be speaking to each other in person. 5. Youâre not incentivising people properly As a manager, you may be reading this article with a good deal of scepticism. Sure, some employees are high-fliers who could benefit from being encouraged to occasionally recharge. But most time-wasters are just lazy, or bored, or disgruntled. Theyâre leeching on the company, and need to be stopped. Well, youâre kind of right. One-fifth of employees in the Salary.com survey did indeed say that they wasted time at work just because they just donât care that much about their job. But if such attitudes are prevalent amongst your team, youâll still need to take the blame. Why? Because either your workplace sucks, or your hiring policy does. Assuming you hire competent workers, you need to accept that any de-motivation among them can most likely be attributed to workplace policies. Solicit feedback on how morale and productivity could be improved, and implement it! Whatâs the alternative? Bosses who feel theyâre being held hostage by workers demanding ever-shorter workdays and ever- longer breaks are missing the point. Your employees are hired to do a job, and those that do not adequately do that job should be reprimanded and eventually let go. But shift your focus from how they work to how well they work. Agree KPIs, targets and other performance measures with your employees, and then trust them to manage their own time and approach in getting those tasks done. Reward people for their dedication, creativity and ideas, not whether they can be found at their desk from 8-6pm. About the author: Beth Leslie is a professional career advice and lifestyle writer. The Difference Between a CV and a Resume - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
The Difference Between a CV and a Resume - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Have you ever wondered the difference between a CV and a resume or when to use which one? They both serve the same purpose which is to get you a job. However, it is good to know which one to use in which part of the world to ease your job search process. CV stands for Curriculum Vitae and it means âcourses of lifeâ in Latin. It is a document which is two pages or longer and includes a summary of your educational and professional backgrounds as well as teaching and research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, memberships and other details. A CV should be in chronological order and should list both your academic and professional career. In some countries, it is expected to list your birthdate, gender and marital status on your CV. CV is used mainly in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia for all types of job applications. However, in the US and Canada, it is only used when applying for academic, education, scientific or research positions. Some of the EU countries also have a different CV format called Europass. If you are looking for a job in Europe, you should list your professional and academic experiences according to the Europass CV template. A resume is, on the other hand, a much shorter document compared to a CV. A good resume is preferably a one page document that summarizes your education and professional experience. The aim of the resume is to make you stand out from the rest of the competition. Generally, the resume reader spends approximately a minute on each resume. Therefore, unlike a CV which is very detailed and long, the resume should be brief and concise and list all of your details in a very high level. Resume is primarily used in the US and Canada for applying jobs and internships. Since resume is only a page long document, it would be wise to adapt your resume according to different positions you apply, especially if you have a longer work history. Also, there is no strict format rule in resume so you can list your information in whichever format best suits you. I personally recommend a one paragraph summary, educational details and then, professional experience starting from your newest position. Nevertheless, if there is a different format which suits your experience better, you can follow that as well. As a result, the main difference between a CV and a resume is their length and their format. A CV is a much longer and detailed document compared to a resume and it has a stricter format. Also, in different geographies, they get used for different reasons. Therefore, you should know which one to use where before applying to any positions.

Tips for A Safe Spa Experience
Tips for A Safe Spa Experience I remember when I was a teenager and had my first (and only!) cavity. The dental assistant was friendly, but I froze when I saw her put her bare fingers on the needle just before it was plunged into my gums. Id hesitated too long, and the deed was done that resulted in a month of treating an infection that could have been avoided. More recently, the place I used to visit for hair services had gradually become less attentive to cleanliness. I really liked the people there, so I endured it until I couldnt stick my head in the shampoo bowl one more time. I havent been back, and fortunately I avoided any unwanted effects. How many times have you gone to the nail salon, spa, or other personal services place and noticed hygiene that just wasnt up to par? You wanted to be polite so you didnt say anything. Worse, you just let it slide and went on with the services you came for. Like Russian Roulette, sooner or later youll be the one that pays the consequences. Believe me, its not worth it! What Can Happen? Nails: According to Patient.com often the infection is just in one nail but several may be affected. At first the infection is usually painless. The nail may look thickened and discoloured (often a greeny-yellow colour). Guess youll be using that dark polish for a while, huh? Skin: Various skin conditions can be acquired from foot spas more easily than you might imagine. The results are not pretty. Open wounds can appear on the skin of feet and legs. Initially they may look like insect bites, but they increase in size and severity over time, and sometimes result in pus and scarring. Scalp: With all that shampoo, the hair salon is super clean, right? Wrong. Unless proper cleaning is done, all kinds of nasty bugs are lurking. Today.com says Everyone has bacteria on their skin (including staph), but you and your body live in harmony with it. Transfer this to another person with an open sore, and it may not be such a harmonious relationship. The infection can be as simple as a little irritation around a hair follicle, or as severe as an infection that could lead to serious illness. What To Look For There are lots of tell tale signs. Glance at the top and sides of the sink basins. Are they shiny and free of haze or spots? Or does it look like it got the kind of cleaning you gave the bathroom when you were six years old? Are there used towels visible anywhere? What about general appearance of the facility? Is it tidy and fresh looking? Remember, youre risking your own well being here, so its okay to be a bit picky. If the place doesnt measure, skip the nice girl routine and be nice to yourself by finding another provider. How To Avoid Nasty Results Dr. Kally Papantoniou, a Cosmetic Dermatologist suggests the following guidelines for protecting yourself from unpleasant experiences with all providers of personal services: Seek out a salon or spa that uses a heat autoclave to sterilize their instruments. Donât soak your feet in the foot-bath in the nail salon . Bring your own nail filers/emery boards, and/or other nail tools if you desire. Do not permit the use of any reusable instruments that are not sterilized. Seek care quickly! If you do pick up what appears to be a wart, nail fungus, or another skin infection, do not delay seeking dermatological care. A Safe Spa Experience is A Happy One It wont matter if your nails or hair look great, or if you feel yummy after that massage. If you have to deal with infections or rashes or who knows what later, the whole experience is pretty much ruined. Do yourself a favor and insist on hygiene standards that protect you. 5 reasons why so many working parents are struggling financially -
5 reasons why so many working parents are struggling financially - Becoming a parent can be life-changing. Whilst it is said by many to be their greatest achievement, it also brings financial challenges and logistical issues. Here are just a few of the reasons why so many working parents are struggling financially. Mortgages According to Habito, first-time buyer mortgage completions were recently at their highest in over a decade so owning your own home is still something that most strive for. It can have its drawbacks, however. Whilst low-income working families can apply for government assistance to help pay with rental costs, there is little to no help available with mortgage interest payments. This can leave some families struggling month to month should their working situation change or they fall upon hard times. Childcare costs Childcare costs can be one of the biggest burdens on a working family with many paying a four-figure sum every month just to have their children looked after. Many have had to decide that one parent will give up their job because they are worse off overall once childcare costs are accounted for. This can also have long term effects because the longer someone is out of work, the harder it is to get back in. Many mothers, in particular, are giving up their careers because childcare costs are simply not affordable. Whilst some families are entitled to benefits that can assist with a portion of the costs, it still doesnt fully alleviate the issue. The cost of extra-curricular activities Whist not essential, most parents want their children to get regular exercise, develop social skills or have some form of activity to look forward to each week. Costs can mount, particularly if you have a large family. Even group swimming lessons can cost as much as £40 per month just for one child. Clothing There are many supermarkets and more affordable shopping outlets stocking a range of childrenâs clothes and shoes which is a welcomed relief for many working parents nowadays. Childrenâs clothing and footwear are charged at zero rate VAT which makes a big difference to the overall cost. However, many older children these days are wearing adult size shoes. These are subject to VAT. Many parents are paying astronomical amounts because they are effectively buying adult-sized shoes for their children. Various petitions are being shared across social media in a bid to have this reviewed. School uniform policies School uniforms can be another huge stress inducer for many parents. Several council-run schools insist that parents buy logoed clothing for every child. This can prove crippling for parents regardless of income. One jumper with a logo, for example, can cost anything up to around £16, sometimes more. Many schools even ask that children wear polo shirts, trousers and skirts bearing a logo. If they donât, children may be sent home. Blazers are also considered essential in some schools. It is important for children to dress appropriately in school. But these policies are viewed by many as extreme and unnecessary.

The Impact Of Microlearning On HR Training CareerMetis.com
The Impact Of Microlearning On HR Training â" CareerMetis.com Photo Credit â" Pexels.comMicrolearning as a tool for employee training has been around for a few years now. But itâs only since in the last four or five years has the concept taken off in a big way.A few years back, Dominoâs launched a gamified micro-course for franchise owners to quickly and interactively train their workers on making pizzas faster and more accurately. Similarly, Walmart Logistics, the distribution arm of the retail giant deployed gamified microlearning methods to train over 75,000 workers on safety awareness. The Growth In Microlearning PopularityevalSo why exactly is microlearning making news so frequently of late? It is being argued that microlearning is highly adapted to the modern lifestyle which requires accelerated learning methods. This need is pinned on the attention deficit of the millennial work crowd who do not prefer traditional learning techniques. But as some researches have shown, such claims are only partially true.evalThe growth in popularity of microlearning has got more to do with the benefits that this pedagogical approach offers rather than anything to do with the learnersâ ability. One of the biggest reasons for the rise in microlearning adoption is its productive use of time. This is especially true in the case of training programs that hone up an employeeâs skills rather than train them from scratch. That is, micro-learning is ideally suited for the knowledgeable and experienced employee who may not have the time to go through a complete course. It helps them brush up on topics that they are already familiar with. This is the reason why some organizations are relying on microlearning to reskill and upskill their employees. Besides the fact that you must identify the skill gaps of each of your thousands of employees, and train them appropriately, you must also create a training schedule that does not hinder daily operations. Establishing a training program for thousands of employees is no easy task.Another big re ason for its popularity is capacity utilization. One study found that modern-day employee only has about 20 minutes a week to focus on training and development.Microlearning makes it possible to train employees with minimal operational impact. The average microlearning session extends for not more than 3 to 5 minutes. Also, most microlearning courses are self-taught. That is, the learners are not expected to attend a classroom session. This makes it possible for organizations to allow their employees to learn and complete courses at their own pace; at their schedule. When your employees do not need extended breaks to upgrade their skills, organizations can manage training programs without much impact on worker schedules.Where Microlearning Is Best SuitedAlthough microlearning is also used in a lot of organizations for employee induction and onboarding, it is better suited for upskilling and occasionally reskilling. A lot of employee induction programs focus on acclimatizing the learn er to the industry and ecosystem of the business. Also, such induction programs are only aimed at a small fraction of the workforce and hence do not have a significant impact on the operations.evalReskilling programs, on the other hand, are targeted at entire departments within an organization. Also, unlike induction programs that have tight deadlines, such training programs do not have short deadlines. This makes it possible for organizations to allow learners to train at their own pace. The impact of microlearning on your HR training practices can be measured regarding the pedagogical ROI. The Kirkpatrick model of training evaluation suggests four levels to evaluate a training program. They are Reaction, Learning, Behavior, and Results. In the first level, the training program is assessed based on the learnersâ reaction to the module. Highly engaging and relevant programs are thus rated highly at this level. This is followed by an assessment of the degree to which the learner has acquired the intended lessons. But the theoretical acquisition of knowledge is only one part. The Kirkpatrick model also assesses the practical application Microlearning performs well on the Kirkpatrick model. From a learnerâs perspective, microlearning finds huge favor thanks to the dramatically lower time it takes for them to get through the content. When combined with quick assessments, microlearning directly fulfills the first two levels of Kirkpatrickâs training evaluation framework.Microlearning is seldom used as a standalone system but is often integrated with gamification and personalization techniques. These techniques tend to assist towards the greater application of learning and thereby have a demonstrable impact on business. In a way then, microlearning tends to help meet the top tiers of the Kirkpatrick evaluation framework. In addition to this, microlearning also has a proven impact on the engagement of the learners. A study published in the Journal of Applied Psycho logy noted that bite-sized learning techniques made transmission of information from the trainer to the learner more efficient by 17%. Not surprisingly then, an overwhelming number of learners to prefer microlearning over other forms of training. It is worth noting that the ROI of a training process includes not only the learner productivity but also the cost of producing the training materials. Learning architect Ray Jiminez claims that microlearning courses can be created in 300% less time than traditional classes and also cost 50% less. Given these cost benefits, organizations are at a much better position to tweak and experiment with content to measure effectiveness and thus embark on continually improving the efficiency of the training materials.Microlearning training techniques may have started making a mark in enterprise organizations only in the past few years, but trainers and educators across the world have long realized their potential impact. It is time more organizations switched from traditional learning methods to microlearning â" not only does it improve learner efficiency, but also has an overall positive effect on the ROI of the entire training process.
